Guys and Dolls arrives at the Savoy Theatre in London for 13 weeks amid an extensive UK tour.
The well received Chichester Festival Theatre production of this classic Broadway show will transfer to the West End over the Christmas period and is booking up until March 12th.
Guys and Dolls is a 1950’s musical fable with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. The story is of a gambler, Nathan Detroit and his night club singer fiancee, Miss Adelaide, whose patience is wearing thin after 14 years of waiting. Nathan meets a fellow gambler, Sky and bets him $1000 dollars that he cannot take a girl (a “doll”) of his choice out for dinner. Full of self-confidence, Sky agrees, only to find that the doll in question is the pious Sarah Brown.
The show includes memorable musical numbers such as “A Bushel and a Peck,” “Luck Be a Lady,” “Sit Down You’re Rocking The Boat,” and “My Time of Day.”
Jamie Parker stars as Sky Masterson, alongside Sophie Thompson as Miss Adelaide, David Haig as Nathan Detroit and Siubhan Harrison as Sarah Brown. The creative team include director Gordon Greenberg, musical direction from Gareth Valentine, choreography by Carlos Acosta and Andrew Wright plus designs by Peter McKintosh and sound by Paul Groothuis.
Guys and Dolls will run in Manchester and Birmingham before arriving in the West End, where the show has not been seen since 2005. Following it’s West End residency, Guys and Dolls will then tour in Liverpool, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Milton Keynes and Bristol.
Book tickets to see Guys and Dolls during its strictly limited run at the regal Savoy Theatre in London.
